Michelle Bruski-Dumpert

Michelle Bruski-Dumpert is a film and TV composer known for emotionally rich scores that elevate independent dramas, thrillers, and genre films. Her score for Curious Adventures earned a Global Music Awards Bronze Medal, recognizing her expressive range and cinematic storytelling.

Her work has supported award-winning projects on the international festival circuit, from the fantasy thriller Baby Blues to the indie mystery Bound and the family fantasy Pocket.  Michelle scored Lucinda, which won Best Horror Film at Milan’s Reale International Film Festival.  She also scored the dark comedy Roseblood, which received recognition at the Nosferatu, Idaho Film, and New York Film Flash Festivals. 

Family and light comedy scores, fairy tales and period works have also played key roles in Michelle’s scoring experience. Whatever the film’s style and story, she builds a strong understanding of each film director’s vision through collaborative communication and developed mutual trust. Her drive is to bring out the director’s vision with absolutely compelling fruition.

Michelle has an arsenal of musical experience and training that includes world-class orchestral education, expert writing in folk, pop, adult contemporary and other song genres, a mastery of melody, and a nuanced ability to blend these musically diverse styles seamlessly with modern production techniques. Earning her Master’s Degree in Film Scoring at the prestigious Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program, Michelle was closely mentored by multi-Emmy award-winning composer Hummie Mann (Robin Hood: Men in Tights; Thomas & The Magic Railroad, Dracula: Dead and Loving It). She holds an additional Master Certificate in Songwriting & Producing from Berklee College of Music.

 

In addition to film and television, Michelle was commissioned by the University of Puget Sound to compose The Sound of Courage, a large-scale work for choirs and the historic Schneebeck pipe organ, which premiered in Tacoma in April. Also a producer and songwriter-lyricist, Michelle’s achievements include Family reaching #1 on the Indie Charts with multi Emmy-winner Doc Holiday producing, and Country Attitude being recognized by the Austin Songwriters Group for Outstanding Achievement and recorded by multi Emmy-winner Denny Gore (The Pointer Sisters, Lou Rawls, Mel Torme, Michael Martin Murphy). Michelle was co-lead singer and songwriter for Wise River Road, a popular country-rock band that performed across several Northwestern states.

Michelle teaches songwriting at Seattle’s esteemed Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program, travels frequently to international film festivals and major film markets, and works out of her home studio in a small oceanside community outside of Seattle, Washington.
